How to make an application start on startup

Hi all,
I am new to OSX but i manage it rather well!
I have a question that cant find an answer,
Is there a way to make an application start automatically when OSX starts?
Something like the Startup folder in Windows.

Apple>System Preferences...>Accounts>Login Items.

Choose your app and it will load at startup.

Even simpler, just right click on icon in the taskbar when it's running and select load on startup.
