Hello guys.
After trying multiple times, I could not get automatic audio switch on AirPods Pro work.

This one is the only thread I found that discuss this issue. I have the latest firmware and iOS 14 is also the latest version. I cannot enable 2FA for personal reason so that option is ruled out. (Please refrain from telling me how “safe” 2FA is. I do not want to discuss 2FA in here)

According to Apple website, it seems that you play some audio, pause, and pickup another device, the audio gets transferred from one device to another. This does not work for me, no matter how hard I try.

On Apple’s website it only mentions supported AirPods and Beats headphone model, of which AirPods Pro is in that list. I am using iPhone XS Max and iPad Pro 2018 so it should not be excluded from “supported iOS device list” either, I think.

I dont care about spacial audio since that requires supported video/audio. But if Apple secretly locks this automatic switching feature behind iPhone 11 or newer I am disappointed.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS: Apple Support website in Australia keeps throwing me error so online support is out.

I got a 11 pro and iPad Pro 10.5. It works fine and as expected. But other times it just doesn’t connect fully and I’d have to manually switch. Which is fine since it can’t predict what I’m about do right all the time. I’d say this. Unpair from your iPhone. Check your iPad to see if it’s gone from there. If not that’s a syncing issue. Unpair. And do it for all your devices.

Reboot. All devices.

Pair the AirPods again. It should auto show up on your iPad and other devices automatically. If not then wait a few mins. If not. Reboot the iPad. Same issue? Try all the above steps again but this time sign out of iCloud on the iPad then reboot all devices. Sign back in and pair again to the phone.

Hope it helps.

I had this issue on my iPad Pro after upgrading to 14.5 and 14.6 and this worked perfectly
