    the elusive HD space

i have looked throudgt my hard drive looking for some memory to delet. i noticed something unusual, and i am not shure if it is just my computer.i did a full invintory of my computer's hard drive and something is eating up about 120 GB but the files are not showing up any where, not even in finder. if you can find that and find out if its important or not it could help you out. ;):apple:

    I prefer whatsize
    www.id-design.com/software/whatsize

Orders the output by space taken. Very easy to see where you space is taken.

Infact here's one I prepared earlier for another thread !

    Command Line

Go to a terminal window and type:

    cd /

    du -s *

Look at the report and follow the path with the largest sizes. Repeat as necessary (without the cd / )

Be careful with deleting files that you do not know about they maybe critical to the system. I have seen numerous people cack their Macs up because they got a bit trigger happy when cleaning out their hard drives.

    or
    du -sm * |sort -n

Displays the output in Mb and orders it by size.
