iPad Pro How to mount iPad drive to a Mac system via SMB?

Hi, I want to copy lots of large files from my iPad to a Mac. I try to avoid using the Files app if possible as I don't find it intuitive to use.

I know the IP address of my iPad. How do I mount it on a Mac desktop via SMB? I tried to connect to it from a Mac but it says the server does not exit. Perhaps I need to change some permissions on the iPad?

iOS/iPadOS cannot actively create a network share without 3rd party tools.
The other way it works (accessing the Mac's share on the iPad and copying files onto it).
I prefer FileBrowser ($6.99) over the Files.app .
FileBrowser also allows to start a WebDAV-Server on the iPad which can be accessed via Wi-Fi from a Mac.

May I ask what kind of files we are talking about? Which app created them?
It might be easier/more robust to copy them via wired USB-connection onto your Mac.

Photos and video files taken from my M1 iPad Pro 12.9. Basically I want to move them to a larger storage somewhere else and delete those files to space for my almost full iPad.

I tried FileBrowser in the past but I also found it not very intuitive to use. That was about 2 years ago. Not sure if it is more intuitive to use in more recent version.

Perfect.
If it's the stock 'Photos.app', you have the possibility of setting up Wi-Fi Sync.
But for a one-time-transfer, connecting the iPad via USB and using the Mac's 'Image Capture.app' seems more straight forward.
