Now that iPhone syncs via finder, how does one get it to show up after previously ejecting from 'locations' in the Finder sidebar (without rebooting of course).?

Try restarting Finder.
This worked, thanks. I wonder why Apple doesn't let you view the device on the Network 'tab' in Finder and connect without having to relauch - in another update perhaps?

I should have mentioned that I didn't want to have to plug/replug the device as I would like to reconnect over wifi without having to access the phone in another room.

Why do you eject it when you want to keep using it? It doesn't do anything apart from stay listed. I'm not sure why you want the device moved to the Network tab instead of showing under locations?

I ejected it by accident and don't necessarily 'want' it moved to the network tab. I'm just kind of wondering why the device can't mounted on demand, since it can be ejected in that fashion (similiar to disconnecting/reconnecting/mounting/unmonting to a HD, Computer or Server) .

Ah right. I've noticed that with the phone on iOS 13.2 beta and me on Catalina beta, that the "Files" section of my device is often empty. My quick way to unmount and remount is to open terminal and run "killall Finder". That remounts it.

In a way, it is mounted on demand (well, as long as you don't accidentally eject it!) as I have a device listed in my Finder that I turned off about 8 hours ago!

I've just discovered that if you have ejected your iPhone from Finder, but then right-click anywhere in Finder and select Import from iPhone, then select Take Photo, it will connect to your iPhone.

Then just hit Cancel, finder closes, then re-opens with you iPhone attached again. It's quite a quick way of getting it re-attached in Finder.
