iPad mini How to move from ipad 3 to ipad mini?

Wife has an ipad 3. She got a mini from her boss as a gift. How do I go about moving everything (apps/settings/etc) from her ipad 3, to the mini?

I don't want to have to reinstall all the apps and settings on the mini if i dont have to.

Back it up in your computer and then restore the mini from the backup.

Back it all up to the iCloud and then on the mini restore from iCloud. Or as previously suggested back it up to the computer via iTunes and restore from there.
