I can’t believe I have to make a thread about this. I must be missing something obvious but I couldn’t find my answer on Google.

I just came from the X to the 11 Pro. On the X you could long-press anywhere on the keyboard to move the cursor. I was confused when that wasn’t working on the 11 Pro, but now I know you need to use the spacebar. Weird change, but okay.

But now how do you move the cursor when you’re using the keyboard that doesn’t have a spacebar?

I believe the change is there due to 3D Touch not being available -- with 3D Touch you can use the feature anywhere on the keyboard by pressing down on it, while with Haptic Touch it has changed to a long-press action that works on the spacebar.

But how do I do this when the keyboard doesn’t have a spacebar like in the screenshot I posted?

Not completely sure about that one not having experience with that sort of situation. There are some general cursor and text changes that are described at https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/use-text-editing-gestures-iphone-ipad/ that might help. It might come down to simply moving the cursor itself around.
Thanks for the link.

For anyone that finds this thread with the same issue:

You have to touch and hold the actual cursor to move it around when you don’t have access to the spacebar.

Where exactly is that keyboard from? What were you doing which prompted that particular keyboard? I can’t find an example where you would not get the spacebar.

Looks like an URL input, so it should come up if you try to enter an URL into safari...

This cursor thing is my least favorite update to any iOS system, ever.

I see them come up for various special inputs on websites. But for this screenshot specifically, it was from the website box when editing your Instagram bio.

Just checked mine on the app and it’s fine. Have you restarted? Looks like a bug to me. You’re on the latest iOS 13?
