On OSX 10.8.2 Do what the article says but for this version, at least, select 'advanced'

I'm not seeing the setting according to the instructions you linked?

Even when I search for Infrared from within System Preferences it guides you to the Security & Privacy panel and to the page noted in the article, but the option for me (13" rMBP) is simply not there.

Actually, retina MBPs don't have an IR port. That's why you don't see the option.

-update: nvrmind, that was on my cMBP before i returned it for this rMBP, my bad
