I'd like to get my gmail and Address Book contacts nicely in sync

Address book is all neat and lovely. Gmail is a jumbled mess.

With the new sync feature of Address Book, is it possible to do a first-time "overwite all gmail contacts"?

Or anyone worked out a practical way to manage sync'd contacts?

My contacts were a mess after syncing with Gmail. I recommend getting Address Book the way you want it, then manually go to Gmail and delete all the contacts. Then sync. Fortunately, Gmail recently stopped auto-adding address to the contacts, so it should stay relatively clean. I think.
