How to perform disk error checking in imac?

It's verify disk and repair disk. Permissions checking can't hurt, but it doesn't check for disk errors.

I don't think there's any set time or frequency that you should be verifying your disk. I tend to disk verify and check permissions if something doesn't work as usual or before an OS or other large software update. So, not very often at all, in other words.

uhmm my imac a few hours ago suddenly die, i dont know what happen, i just leave it for an hour and turn into sleep when i get back i cant wake her up anymore so it took me minutes and force me to press the on/off button to reboot it but yeah it takes me 3times attempt to turn on, so do u think i will verify my desk? i dont know what happen to my lion OS X still new tsk tsk so bad
