I decided to return my 27" iMac (I am within my 14 day window)

My question is, do you recommend I just delete all my data , rebuild ?

DO they need to logon to it (if I factory reset it )?

    Thanks everyone!

Why you have decided to return the iMac?

You can return it back as it is. Of course for your safety you can remove your profile (and data).

Here are some Apple instructions that might help. I would recommend the factory reset.

Thanks I will do that. My concern was if the Apple store needed to get into the OS it will take a while from a fresh boot.

The best way to answer that question is to call the Apple store to see what they say.

I did what @CoastalOR posted. Apple can figure out how to enter the OS. No worries.

I once had to return a macbook. Booted into recovery mode and erased the SSD encrypted with file vault before going to the store. The return was quick and smooth. They may boot it up to examine its condition.
