The lock WILL prevent it from being tipped over, because the base (to which the lock secures the iMac) is screwed to the top of the desk underneath it.

Thanks for the info. Strangely, Kensington's website showed me that the product is not available anymore.
 
I came up with a cheap and simple solution that lets me freely move the iMac (e.g. pulling it towards me or pushing it back - depending on how I want to use it at that moment) while protecting it from being tipped over by my cats: I wrapped a paving stone that weighs about 3 kg / 6 lbs into a linen sheet and put it on the rear end of the iMac's stand ("foot"). Now it requires a great amount of force to move the iMac and I doubt that cats can do it.

I will also attach felt pads to the feet of the wooden bench on which the iMac stands so that I can move the bench (and therefore the iMac) more easily.
