I love my new phone but worry that with such a great megapixel size, the iPhone 14 pro cameras are so big that they are susceptible to surface scratches.
What's the point of 48mp if the front glass is scratched? I noticed some over the camera clear inserts, but it sounds even worse taking quality photos through a plastic cover.
Are there any cases that protect the cameras without covering them?
Is this a problem for anyone else?

I too am worried about this. My iPhone 14 Pro Max is arriving next week and I've ordered a clear case and tempered glass screen protector, but have no idea what to do about the camera bump?

I've seen a few reviews for tempered glass camera lens protectors, and while they are mostly good, lots of people are claiming they adversely affect photo quality.

Cases have built in bumpers so that there is no camera bump. It’s not a problem and you can lay your phone down on a flat surface without damaging the camera.

I use a basic clear JEtech case on my 13 Pro which has decent size lip around the camera bump. I will assure you that the phone gets the crap beaten out of it and hasn't got a single dink on it yet including the lenses. Just don't put it in the same pocket as your keys.

This was when I had it in the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I don't think there's
another case offering more protection for those rear camera lenses.

The company also makes one for the iPhone 14 Pro Max which looks
the same:

AppleCare+, don’t put the phone in pockets or purses with keys, lay it face down on hard surfaces. I use a RhinoShield bumper case which keeps the screen off the table.

The camera lenses have sapphire, not glass. You might nick the stainless steel surrounds, but they’re otherwise very scratch-resistant. I just leave them uncovered and wipe with a shirt or jeans as necessary. I did that through a 12 pro, 13 pro, and now the 14 pro. Never had any scratches, and I don’t baby it. The phone goes in purses, pockets, and the top of my swimsuit often.

This. Haven't worried about the camera lens, ever. Since the iPhone 3G in 2008. And I've never had one get scratched. Leave uncovered (and caseless, for me) and wipe on shirt or jeans when dirty.

Almost every case extends out enough to protect the lenses from setting down on a surface. The glass (sapphire) is very tough so unless you are very careless, most need not worry.

Thanks everyone. I like the ones with the sliding cover, but would also like a front cover. I currently have a torro flip case that doesn’t have much of a lip around the cameras.
my ideal would be a flip or wallet case with a sliding cover over the cameras, but I can’t find anything like that.

If you apply a high quality screen protector such as a Spigen, your phone will feel just as good as a naked phone the front glass will be protected rendering a flip case redundant.
