    Hi all,

I have begun to get the GPU-fail on the 2011-sandy bridge architecture.

Now, I want to bring it in for repair and just did a full diagnostics on restart without finding any error. So I would like to provoke the fail at apple care.

I've just tried to load a load of youtube-videos, a VM-machine and more - without provoking it - while it went of just an hour ago with much less GPU-load.

Is there any way to provoke it - or is it rather random?

They will run a hardware test using their own netboot software. Thats what the deciding factor will be. You really don't need to prove something to them.

Usually pretty random on Macs just starting to fail...

Open up Photoshop and try working on an image with lots of layers.

Any app that uses the dGPU will provoke it, normally :)
