Hold down the Power and Home Button for 20 seconds.

Go to iClarified and get a step by step tutorial for the type of phone you have and your operating system.

Out there if you can't figure it out I highly suggest you don't JB and as posted iClarified is one of the better ones if not the best. not trying to be mean but there is way too much info on JB there isn't much anybody here can add about how to do it. that hasn't already been done.

Not being mean, there are just folks who should never try this.

Usually is because they are in a hurry and just don't do enough reading and research first, then make an irreparable mistake.

Or they are not detail oriented enough and can't understand the instructions.

One thing people forget, we didn't know anything about this when we first began, we had to read, read, read and research, learn to follow directions explicitly and eventually it all comes together.

    Erm, no.

iPhones are normally Power and Home for 10 seconds, release Power and keep hold on Home for another 10 seconds.

If that doesn't work, then hold Power for 3 seconds, keep it held and then hold Home and Power for 10 seconds, release Power and keep hold of Home for another 10-30 seconds.

There is no software that will do this for you. The most they'll do is enter restore mode, not DFU mode.

Sorry that those instructions aren't very clear, I don't tend to think about it anymore, I can kind of just... do it :p
