How to put in DFU mode? HOME button not working

How can I put an iPhone/iPod touch in DFU mode without using the HOME button?

The HOME button on mine is not working at all and there's no warranty.

I read about an app which will allow me to use the battery icon as HOME button. But to install it I need to jailbreak and use Cydia.

The question is how do I put it in DFU mode (to jailbreak it) if the HOME button doesn't function.

Please HELP.

You can't then. Home button not working, better take it to Apple and fix it.

Or use one of the many iPhone repair shops you can find on the internet. Much cheaper then going to Apple since you are out of warranty.

You cant make an application for this procedure. It has to be done during the boot of your phone, not in the OS.

For the purposes of putting the phone in DFU - you'll need a working Home button. Period...

Home button is not an issue. Power/Unlock button is the one that is broken on lot of devices.

And, there were some applications (like ZiPhone, iLiberty...) that were doing this. But, since 2.0 that stopped working. So, this only has to be updated for current firmware versions and made like a standalone software.

Inside the phone next to the button there are 2 prongs that touch the back side of the phone when you compress the button. When one of those prongs are not set correct it will either not work or you have to press real hard.
If you get it open to look be careful with the prong they break off very easy, but if you can extend it out a bit it will work.

i know this post is kind of old, but if your still looking for a solution to just jailbreak, i believe blackra1n does not need you to press any buttons on the phone, it puts it in DFU mode for you.

No, blackra1n doesn't need DFU mode. The effect's the same, but the reason's different.

Apple might be pretty cheap if it's just the home button.
