Now, I want to put it back into my notobook IDE socket. I have took out the harddrive from my USB HUB and connected it into my notebook. The problem come out the computer cannot load into the desktop and hanged in the white apple logo.

"still waiting for root device"

I need your help, please let me know what can I do to make it boot back into the desktop. Thanks so much for any help !!!!!

What Mac do you have? As far as I remember, IDE (P-ATA) hasn't been used on any Intel Macs, thus I am bit confused. Do you mean the S-ATA interface perhaps?

Have you tried any of these steps?

Thanks for your reply.

I have installed Mac OSx 10.6.6 on Netbook Samsung N510 in a external USB Harkdisk. It is running smoothly except the build-in Wifi is not function. After I have switched my external USB harddisk to notebook internal IDE plug, it can't boot to the desktop but remain in White Apple Logo.

I will go thru the link you have pasted to see if it can solve my problem.

Thanks you help !!

Most likely OS X does not have drivers for your internal hard disk controller. Sometimes on these computers SATA will work while IDE will not and vice versa. It worked externally in the USB enclosure since OS X did have the drivers for the controller in the USB device.

The links simsaladimbamba gave may lead you to drivers for your internal controller. Assuming someone else has you netbook and got it working successfully and links to those drivers. Otherwise you will have the more difficult task of finding the Ven and Dev ID's of the controller and hope you can find a kext file that has been modified to work. Failing that you may luck out and have one supplied by Apple in OS X that is compatible but just needs your Netbook's Ven and Dev ID's added.

Thanks ..

I found the system halted in "still waiting for root device" . Any ideas how to fix it.
