So, long story short i dropped my iphone 3gs in the pool, and its not working now, so my friend gave me his jailbroken (and possible unlocked) 3gs.

My question is, how can i go about using his phone?? I assume i can just drop in my SIM card and make/receive calls and texts, but I would like to have the phone import the contacts and data from the restore i have in itunes...

How can I accomplish this?? Sorry, i am very new to jailbreaking and did not have it done on my old phone that is now broken...

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

You use your iTunes backup. Restore your contacts apps etc. You will loose his btw. You will also need to renal break. Maybe reunlock.

So i dont need to worry about anything when plugging in the phone to itunes??

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it...

So I tried to do the restore and it gives me an error 3194...

"The Iphone XXXXX could not be restored. An unknown error occured (3194)."

Any ideas on how to go around this?? I really just want it restored to original, i'll redo the jailbreak, etc. later...

His phone might have been unlocked using the iPad baseband, which prevents official restores.

If you just want to restore your contacts and such, just right click on the iPhone in iTunes and restore from backup, and choose your old phone.
