Sometimes it is more than a week after release of a new iOS system update before a notification badge appears on my iPhone's Settings icon indicating that a Software Update is available. Is there any way via Apple or 3rd party to set up an alert that arrives via email as soon as an update becomes available? Even better if available for MacOS also.

It's much better (and safer) to wait a week anyway. Just wait for the notification icon. What's the rush?

By safer I assume you mean in case there is a bug in the update? Assuming it's a stable release, I'd rather get it sooner for the security updates.

Apple has a mailing list for a reason, not that anyone would think to use the first-party resource.

Username checks out. How about toning it down a notch? Not everybody is attuned to the Internet like some of us. I’ve never seen it asked that I can recall and I never would have discovered it since I come here on days that you would expect a release may come.

[rant]Helpful will always be preferred over snide/condescending. I take the opportunity to answer questions over and over because that’s what people with experience do. It’s also how you become more knowledgeable and efficient.

This is what burns me so badly about folks that take the time to reply only to tell someone to search. If you have the answer, reply with that otherwise buzz off unless you’re contributing something helpful like a resource or relevant personal experience. That’s it. This will probably be removed so [/rant].

Edit: Happy Memorial Day everyone!
