How to Record text being spoken by computer

I would like to record some text on my computer that I have the speech program under system preferences say. Is there anyway to do this? I thought perhaps garage band, but I didn't know how.

Oh sweet! I am gonna use this as ringtones for my iPhone. I am gonna go in and everyone in my phone book will have a personal "_____ is calling"
