Hi again folks,

I converted a whole load of AVCHD footage to Prores 422 Proxy (in order to save HD space). I have now completed one section of the edit and want to output back to the AVCHD quality. But when I carry out the following method FCP 7 isn't able to find the associated files on my external HD.

What am I doing wrong?

Highlight the entire Timeline where the edited Sequence is.

Go to Reconnect Media.

Locate the original AVCHD files (which are on an the external HD).

Now this is where I get stuck as I can't relink to the external HD as it won't find the files on there. It finds the Prores 422 Proxy files no problem on my internal HD. It just won't find the AVCHD files on the external HD!

If I'm not mistaken, you need to delete the proxy files, then do log and transfer again this time with Pro Res 422 in stead of Pro Res 422(Proxy), then reconnect the files to those new ones. I have been pretty happy with Pro Res 422 quality.
