How to remove history pane on the left hen viewing landscape on 6+

Every time I browse safari in landscape mode the history pane is in the left. How do you remove this? I want to browse in landscape without that annoying pane.

tap on the bookmark icon, which should be bolded in blue. the left column will then go away.
