Hi,

I use (among other things) an MacMini where I never have wifi enable nor will (why would I when I'm connected with 10GbE). Both with BigSur and now Monterey the (people) who designed this thing, decided that there is no way to remove WiFi from control center - even for the people who have no interest in using WiFi ... what a (removed).

It looks like I'll have to wait to see what MacOS 13 will do, before I upgrade from Catalina (which I'm also not too fond of).

I would extend your question with how to get rid of control center, not needed on a computer.
control center is great, a mimized place to access items that used to clutter the menubar. if you don't use it, be glad it's a singular thing, not a bunch of icons spread across the menu.

OP, i hear you, but really... how much time do you spend in control center? there are a couple of things i don't use there, so i... don't use them. simple.

Your opinion it is great, mine that it is useless and add to the clutter of the menubar.

I am not 100% sure that I agree (I like to have less things in my menu, and control center helps with that), but it should be possible to remove things from Control Center which has no need to be there.

I find that the new UI has been designed by (maybe also for) people who primary use Devices, as the UI has become fat, and space is wasted.

I now miss the old days and when I look at Gnome (which is also not perfect) I see that at least some UI designers get the idea.

seems like you're saying 2 different things...? control center offers less clutter, but the UI is fat? hmmm...

i use bartender to hide spotlight & do not disturb (etc); great to have that app. control center is locked in place, but appreciate the unclutter it provides.

if you ever want to airdrop or unlock your mini with a watch you need to have wifi enabled.

Yes, what is life without contradictions. I like the idea behind Control Center, but that I'm not able to remove the things from it which I do not need or want annoys me.

And I do not use either, so why do I have to look at "Wifi" which is not used at all. They could call it network and I would be almost happy, but nooooo.....

really, how much time do you spend in control center? but this is apple; pretty inflexible with all their devices, when it comes to customization...

Well I would wish none, but that's impossible and I can't remove it.
A computer is not a device ...
I understand the need for a phone or tablet, but completely useless if I could decide what is in my menu bar of my computer.

I just want the time and a network manager ... like in 1998!
If you disable contol center as a service you will loose the clock (even that does not work anymore in Monterey)

Warning: Expecting a LaunchDaemons path since the command was ran as root. Got LaunchAgents instead.
`launchctl bootout` is a recommended alternative.
/system/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.controlcenter.plist: Could not find specified service
Unload failed: 113: Could not find specified service

And yes I tried with bootout and launchdaemons.

"A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information, or data." (from the web, of course).

and yes, you can do all of that, and deal with the consequences. or you can accept that the icon is there, and get on with the day...

I used wired ethernet too, but don't discount WiFi completely!

If your home internet goes down, you can now use that WiFi icon to tether through your phone to get online. I've done it several times with my iMac over the years.

Also notice WiFi has to be enabled (but you don't need to join a network) to use a few features like AirDrop.

If we can all agree that we don't need a submenu to enable wifi I'm happy :) (because apparently nobody uses the rest of it on their device ...)
