I have an Intel X25-M (2nd gen) that I want to restore and upgrade firmware on. What is the correct procedure? I have both Macs and PC available.

I just hooked it up to my PC and downloaded the Intel SSD Toolbox, but got the message that "the firmware update cannot be completed for the selected SSD". And the Quick Diagnostics says that the selected SSD has no partition (it is OS X formatted).

What's the correct procedure to upgrade and also restore the drive back to 'new'?

If I download the regular firmware update, does it have to be burnt on a CD even though the SSD is not connected as a boot drive? And should this be done on my Mac or PC?

If I want to do it on my PC, should I then first delete the partition and then reformat the SSD in Disk Management before running the SSD Toolbox?

Burn it on a cd, boot the CD and it will find the SSD on your Mac.
