OK, I've just realised the error of of my ways with a public beta. I made the foolish assumption that when the official release of iOS9 came out, I could switch across from my public beta and job done.

    Clearly not the case.

I had 9.1 on my old phone, with an iTunes backup when I bought my new 6S.

I am now discovering that I cannot simply restore my new 6S from my backup of 9.1 on my 6.

Is there a workaround? Id rather not install the public beta on the new phone as it makes most sense to move over to the proper iOS 9.0.1 release now.

    Any ideas?

Two choices. Revert your old phone to 9.0.1 and make a new backup or upgrade your new phone to 9.1 B2 and restore from that backup. I took the second option and have my 6S Plus running 9.1 Beta 2. It works well.

I put the beta profile on my new 6s and am updating through the phone's software update to 9.1b2. It took about 20 mins to download on a 1.5 MB line. It's just going through boot up now. Then I'll do a restore through iTunes.

OK, delighted to say I have come across the most ridiculously simple solution to go from the public beta of 9.1 to the official release of 9.0.1. Follow this link, but critically, before you do anything, read the first comment at the bottom. Job done in a matter of minutes and now back onto the official releases.
