Glad to hear that you are making some progress...

Is your mifi battery powered? Might want to watch the time, in that case :D
I always recommend that an ethernet connection is your best choice when using the internet recovery.
But, I also recognize that not everyone has the adapter needed to do that with a rMB.
And, a proper wireless router would also likely be better than what you have.
Eh..., but you get to "run what you brung" - good luck!

You saved me, bro. Typing on the rMB right now. It didn't take long at all to reinstall the OS. Thanks again for all of your help.

So you just had to wait for the 2303030404040440 hours to pass? How long did it take?

My situation may not apply to you. I guess it's not the norm. Either way, once you boot into recovery like suggested in the first two posts or the Internet way I ended up having to do, it's not too difficult. Steps I took..

  • Booted to Internet recovery
  • deleted existing partition
  • ran diskutil list command from terminal
  • copied my UUID
  • ran the diskutil delete command / pasted my UUID
  • It runs a quick process
  • Exit terminal and go back in disk util
  • Go to partition tab and create one, name it.
  • Changes apply, exit disk util
  • Choose reinstall OSx, choose drive to install on...it'll be the drive you named.
  • Hit next and off it goes. Don't watch the countdown on screen. Took about 1.5hrs.
  • Next thing I knew it had installed the OS and was talking to me.

All of this would have taken 15 mins plus the install time had I known more about Macs.

You can shorten that middle part a bit by just running the command below in Terminal to kill the logical volume. You don't need the UUID, just the volume name.

Code:
diskutil cs delete "Macintosh HD"

Just substitute the real volume name for Macintosh HD or Brain or whatever and make sure to include the quotes.

Does that time mean it'll be done this year???

I'm sure it's just a bug/glitch, but BWAHAHAHAHAHA! That made my day. That's hilarious!

Trust @Weaselboy advice, his terminal commands helped me reinstall Yosemite when the Core Storage factor prevented me from reformatting my disk.
