Was wondering if there is a way to rip vinyl through a turntable, preamplifier and a Ma computer as well as CDs with an hifi player rather than the computer's one (which, for instance, I don't have since the iMac's drive doesn't work and the MacBookPro's one works on and off...

Any suggestion?

Thank you

IF you have an audio interface, use your MM or MC phono preamp out to the interface in then start recording.

All I have handy to play vinyl is a turntable and a preamp, I have no audio interface besides the MacBook (either in pro or air taste) audio in, dunno if I can retrieve the signal through one of the tape out plugs and then throw it into the MacBook to serve the purpose

Thank you for the suggestion

I’d recommend this small interface to record vinyls: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GHBYZ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6F9SAb45QAYJ2 . This model was made specifically for recording vinyls onto your PC (or Mac). It also has the ability to input the direct phono output or the output from a preamp. The phono input also includes the RIAA correction curve so the recordings will sound accurate

Good suggestion, I will keep an eye on it when the turntable will finally be working again, it's becoming a nightmare to put it back into working conditions, rewire the tonearm, move the counterweights at the base of the turntable's frame, mount the second plinth back in place, wait for the tonearm to be back after rewire, order new belts... uff!

Grazie
