i found the apple hardware test for my version of macbook, and i found instructions on how to do it here:

    http://rivenbyfive.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/download-and-run-apple-hardware-test.html

but i dont understand what im supposed to do. i need this written in dummy language.
am i supposed to copy those commands in terminal or something?

    EDIT:
actually i did enter those commands into terminal but it asks for a password, i dont have a password setup on my computer, so what should i put into terminal to bypass the password

Usually if you have no password when those prompts come up you can just leave it empty and hit enter.

How old is your Macbook? The newer ones have the test built in firmware. On older machines it is on the installer DVD.
