how do you run diagnostics on a 2015 MacBook? I have tried starting up the mac holding the D key down and also option+D but nothing seems to work to get it into diagnostic mode. I have been having issues with programs freezing and needing to be forced quit. I also had a panic crash that pointed to a cpu issue

    Thanks in Advance

Hit the (f4) mission control button and go under 'disk utility'.

I'm not having any disk issues, the message is a cpu issue. Under Disk utility I can scan the disk but don't see any other diagnostics.

    +1 etrecheck

I think it's actually slightly better than Apple's own suite of inbuilt diagnostics.

etrecheck IS great for diagnosing, it just doesn't repair anything.

Fisherking, what do you recommend for repairing?

really, it comes down to what might be wrong. programs freezing? a kernel panic? honestly, it might be worth trying to call apple. what errors does etrecheck show?

EDIT: maclife magazine recommends 'maccheck' from micromat.com, another freebie...

Ok I was able to run it a little bit ago. But it doesn't really show any issues. but here is the CPU Panic error

I am a big fan of Etrecheck, but IMHO it not a substitute for the Apple Diagnostics test, which is the new name for the old AHT, Apple Hardware Test.
