How to Secure Your Instagram Account With Two-Factor Authentication

Thanks for the replies. Not sure what the real alternative is. Do you trust an app that’s supposed to be a key generator? How is it assigned to you alone?

Someone (I don't know the person) set up an Instagram account, and used my email account for recovery. Needless to say, he/she doesn't get the email to reset the password. After a year, I finally recovered the account and left a post saying to please leave a comment if anyone knew the real owner so I could return the account. Since that time, I've gotten three more password reset emails. The person who opened the account is obviously an idiot with no friends.
