How to see if an iPhone or an iTouch is connected

Hey guys

I want to share my internet connection from my ethernet modem through Airport.

How can I tell from my iMac that I have successfully connected my iPhone to the mac?

Or how can I tell if another iPhone from somewhere else isn't stealing my network?

Will they show up in the finder?

I think you have to find the MAC address of the device, then use the Airport utility to see if that mac address is connected.

I'm not sure...
