How to separate charger and iPhone?

OK this is a silly question but I am wondering....I finally broke down and got a Belkin MagSafe charger puck, that I can sit my iPhone 16 on next to my computer. It works great. But there is one problem - the MagSafe magnet is strong!!! When I want to pick up my iPhone, how do I do it? Right now I pick up the phone/charger assembly, grab around where the charging cord meets the puck and pull it away. I worry that might mess up the power cable over time. I can't hold the puck and pick up the phone as the puck is much smaller in dimensions that the iPhone. There doesn't seem a way I can just lift the phone up, as the magnet is too strong. What do other people do???

Purchase pucks and chargers that are weighted appropriately.

When I grab my phone, I use my fingers to kinda push the puck so it slides out of alignment and falls off.

Yeah, sliding horizontally is the only way to go. Once you get the magnets off alignment (maybe 1/4" or so) the puck falls away easily.

Thank you @ignatius345 and @ReliableSource that does seem to work pretty well. It's a good puck, it works really well.

Blu Tack (sticky tack, mounting putty, or poster putty for those in the US) the puck to your desk. I've done this with stands and chargers for years.
