How to set up mail?

Ok I am having problems with setting up my mail account. For the outgoing server it needs a stmp.example.com, I am confused as to what exactly goes here. I have tried a numerous amount of different things but it won't work. I would appreciate the help for a mac noob like myself. Thanks

Whoever your mail provider is should have instructions on what their smtp address is. It's not the same formula for every company.

If you're not able to set up an outgoing server (SMTP), check your email acct through webmail and see what your outgoing server name is. Ex. For an earthlink acct. it would be smtpauth.earthlink.net. Once you have your email acct set up, do a test on your pop server and outgoing server to see whether you do get a connection.
