Hi,

Has anyone got any experience in setting up multiple apple home locations?

Currently I have apple home set up and working in my apartment but I am in the process of renovating my father-in-law’s weekend getaway and I would like to set up a separate apple home location there

My google powers are weak as I can’t find any details on how to do this - has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You can add a home from the Home app by touching the location arrow on the top left corner and tapping the Add Home on the top left.

Thanks - can you use Siri to differentiate between the two ‘homes’?

E.g “hey siri, turn on the lights at home one” and “Hey Siri, turn on the lights at home two”

Will the HomeKit accessories and hub stay there after you are done renovating? Reason I'm asking is because it might be better to set it up using his iCloud and then him sharing the Home with you in case he ever wants to add stuff or whatever.

I've had Siri give him a hard time for other homes based on location. To the point of me just doing everything through the Home app. For example if I say "turn on the living room lights" siri will do that for the locations I'm at, however if I'm at home and say "turn living room lights on AT xxxxx" she will sometimes come back with "Hmmmm I'm not sure I can help you with that" or something. Control center only shows your favorites too btw.

It seems to work very well but there are limitations.

The hub will be staying there after we are done but I very much doubt my father in law will be interested in using it ;)

Initially I’ll be using it so we can turn the AC on when we’re about 1/2 an hour away so we have a nice cool bedroom when we arrive

Eventually, when I can source some lights or light fittings (we live in Thailand so finding things like hue lights can be tough) I’ll set up a random routine with the lights to make it look like someone is home when we’re in town, maybe throw in some motion sensors as well
