How to set up webcam with Mac Messenger ?

Hey MacRumors Forum Members,

I just got my net yesterday for my new iMac. And well I downloaded Mac: Messenger (Windows Live Messenger) and I noticed I don't have the webcam feature.

Do I have to download something else for it ?

Unfortunately it's a bit of a problem.

The Microsoft MSN Messenger program doesn't support voice or video on Macs.

There's a beta version of the next version (which does supposedly support voice/video) floating around the internet, but I haven't been able to get either to work with it - other people reportedly have.

aMSN supports video but not voice. The interface is awful but it gets the job done.

I've ended up convincing most of my friends with whom I videochat to install Skype as that works beautifully on Mac and PC.

Its a good alternative, just in case I wanna use webcam.

But the interface is horrendous.

aMSN is actually at version 0.98 - I'm not sure why that's not linked from the aMSN website but it's on the other software download websites online e.g. http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/aMSN.shtml and http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14200/amsn
