How to shut down a processor?

Does anyone know if there is a handy little app that I can download to shut down one of my processors in my G5?

i've been testing with that it even when you turn off an entire processor there is no heat/power usage reduction.

That is because you can not turn a processor off.
You can only tell the OS to stop using it.

Why do you need to turn off a processor? Are you takeing your computer on a camping trip and need to save power?
