Can someone please help me here? I don't know why, but when I click "share storage plan" nothing happens. The button greys out for a brief second and thats all. It never gets past that point to matter how long I wait. I have 200gb to share, i've tried logging out and then back in to my icloud account, shut down my phone and restarted, but nothing allows me to get past that screen.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming you've set up Family Sharing, issued invites & had them accepted prior to trying to share your iCloud storage...

If you have a Mac (System Settings > iCloud) or another iOS device, do you get the same result? Alas you can't setup or manage Family Sharing via iCloud.com (Why Apple?). If you do have access to another device, this should tell you if the problem is with your device or with your iCloud account.

Failing that, I'd give Apple a call.

Thanks. Yes, I had previously set up Sharing with no issues.

I ended up fixing it by signing out of iCloud (again) and iTunes/App Store (I use a different account for each)

I then signed into my phone with just the iCloud account. Then shared the storage (worked this time). Afterwards I went back and changed the iTunes/AppStore account back to the correct one. It was rather frustrating but at least it’s all working now.

Raises privacy red flags to me. I often take photos of things that my wife will mention that she likes or wants while we're out (when she's not looking) so I can remember them later when buying gifts for an occasion. Or if I'm making her something for Christmas and taking pics of the progress to send other family members. Or when I was planning to propose to her, for example, and I was sending rings for opinions to her best friends and parents. Or perhaps you're out in separate places and you see something your kid might like for Christmas, snap a pic to get the wife or husband's ok. In every one of these scenarios, I don't want anyone else getting these photos that I don't hand select. Perhaps if there were an option of where to save a photo when you snap one?
Yes. All it needs to be is an option to toggle the save to a pre-selected folder (or not) either before or after capture. For example you set up a folder called “our family photos” which is shared and your photos of the kids and your wife’s photos of the kids are automatically shared. The pictures you take of your business presentation can be saved into your own library and your wife never has to see them because you haven’t saved them to the toggled folder. The same could be done for document folders like pages and numbers docs - I can,t fathom why Apple continues to refuse to grant access in this way. Set up a folder, mark it for family sharing, independently save or delete folders between members because they have been granted permission. Done.
WTF Apple?

Can’t we do this already with Photos? And with anyone, not just a family member?

I remember sharing Thanksgiving Day pictures with family members years ago. I haven’t had a need to do this in a while. Maybe Apple took this functionality out??

The way it is set now, photos need to be individually selected to add them to a shared album. I think what the poster is requesting is a way to automatically add photos to a shared album, and have the feature to be toggled on and off quickly.

Can this be done now?

I’m not sure. But I wouldn’t want that. Say you’re sharing photos with your parents. You’re taking pictures of the dogs and kids. Then decide to take a picture to share ONLY with your spouse. Don’t need that.

That's why you can toggle it off.

I've got a problem here: Trying to invite my mother to share my iCloud storage (already sharing with my wife and 3 kids, so there should be a sixth set open.

I can't find any option anywhere, neither on my Mac nor iPhone to send the invitation message. It worked when I set up the first bunch of shares, the message could be sent immediately. Now for my mother there's simply no option to send a message.

What am I not getting here?
