Found a subreddit where a few people unpaired their phones and restored from backup. This fixed the problem for them, although it didn’t work for me. Worth a try at least!
I will try this and see. Able to get my wife's almost through, she got stuck on subscribe on the fitness+ app - doesn't link at all. This is a super buggy release, seems like they made it WAY more complicated than it should have been.

From a middle aged guy who never steps in to a gym, or use any other video motivators when I use my treadmill, I find this has some pluses and a few negatives.

-Treadmill instructors will motivate to push to new bests. I’m used to just plopping the treadmill on 10kph, 4% incline for ten minutes at a blank wall, but there gets to be some real push up some inclines and straightaways.
-I really like the exercise countdown, heart rate, where I rank with other users, and progress shown on my rings.
-Worked really well with my iPad, but given the noise from the machine, likely best to use some headphones. I’d expect a phone to be a challenge.

dislikes:
-limited videos right now.
-biggest grumbling point? Music selection. I love my metal, maybe a bit of 80s rockers... Don’t bother with hip hop, or most of the seems all ‘rock’ at least on treadmill is neutered. Nickelback, System of a Down, Green Day - all stuff I skip on Apple Music.

It'd be a neat trick if they could replace the music with different genres for different audiences to avoid alienating folk. Can't say I've watched any of the vids, but just looking at the genres would be enough to put me off, I'm sure the tech is there with key matching / beat matching etc. & it's not like apple don't have access to a huge library to test it on. Just think of it as a pick 'n' mix - pick your instructor, your class, your music & you're off.

Anybody else kinda disappointed in the kinds of workouts available?

I guess I was hoping for a more long-term workout plan that targets different muscle groups like, arms on Monday, legs on Tuesday, chest on Wednesday, etc.... not just general strength workouts that max out at 30 min. :/

I can’t use the AppleTV app. When I try to select my watch from the first screen I get the “pairing canceled” message every time. Tried restarting watch and AppleTV but no luck. iPhone app works for me but won’t allow me to AirPlay to Apple TV. Only the audio comes through. Screen remains black. Any ideas?
I was able to resolve the issue by deleting the default user from the Apple TV, then re-adding a default user using the iPhone proximity setup method. It then worked okay. Although my Memoji icon associated with my iCloud account isn't showing anymore. I think the issue is to do with Apple IDs.

Hey Apple, **** you for blocking the video feed with the lightning to HDMI adapter. Makes no ****ing sense other then to push Apple TV sales- which I already have two of and I never thought I'd have to purchase a third just to use on my tv in my home gym. I've used the Peloton App all year with the HDMI Adapter with zero issues.

I was using this free trial to see if I was cool with jumping services since, for me and my wife, a year of Peloton digital is over $300 when Fitness+ is only $89. But if all of your other main competitors allow this functionality, but you don't, that's a pretty big deal since it makes the HIIT and Strength classes much easy to follow when I can watching on the TV instead of having my tiny ass phone sitting on the floor.

This is kind of a deal breaker for me. I dunno, I feel like I'm cool with sticking with Peloton just for this ability. Feels kind of petty to say that but at the same time it's super ****ing petty of Apple to block this feature.

/rant.

Re-pairing my watch with my phone solved the "Pairing cancelled" bug for me too! Otherwise, using AirPlay with a workout from the iOS fitness app works nicely too.

Unable to connect to the Apple TV. Stuck on validation screen on watch but no validation screen ever appears on the tv. Tried multiple reboots, toggling Bluetooth but nothing.

Guess this thread is as good as any ... I did my first two intro workouts in fitness+ today - a 10 minute HIIT and a 10 minute yoga (“I thought she said Yoda”). Will get on my bike trainer and try a cycling one tomorrow.

My description of the music selection at this point is "MGM Grand Pool". Which is to say, that's where I've previously heard all these songs before.

I got my Apple Watch series 6 Wednesday. I tried hooking it up to my Apple TV 4K today. Nothing. haha Like others said, it just says pairing and then stops right away. I reset the watch and the TV. Still does not work.
