How to stop receiving text messages

I have both disabled Bluetooth and unpaired my watch, and yet the watch continue to receive text messages. Does anyone know how to stop this? Plz help

Apple Watch app > Messages > Custom.

Thx. I understand the messages coming through when the phone and watch are paired, but if I impair the watch I shouldn't receive any notifications at all.
