Hello, when I connected my iPhone 6s Plus to the MacBook Pro via usb, iTunes was activated. How can I tell which photos and videos are from my iPhone and which ones are stored on my Mac?

As my Mac only has about 2G left, I plan to move some photos and videos (both presently available and those in the future) from my iPhone to an external drive. What is the best way to do it?

Thanks.

iTunes doesn't download your photos/videos from your iPhone. Photos does that for you. If Photos doesn't open when you connect your iPhone, open Image Capture and you can choose to have your photos/videos downloaded to Photos.

Once they've been downloaded into Photos, you can just drag and drop them from Photos to the external drive.e

Thanks. What is the proper way of downloading them to Photos?
Once I have drag and drop them from Photos to the external drive, can I delete those files from wherever they were downloaded to Photos?

Just as I said above. Once Photos opens, it will show all the pictures in your iPhone's Camera Roll that haven't been imported. Choose the "Import All" option, or choose the ones that you want.

Yes.
