First off, sorry about the long title, but I couldn't think of any other way to phrase my question.

So I am on a network that requires a login through a verified username and password. I am a verified user and am able to correctly logon and use the wifi. However, I am unable to use a VPN on my network. I was wondering if there was anything I was doing incorrectly or if there was any reason this should be an issue.

If anyone has had any experience with VPN's on this specific type of network, help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

An enterprise network? Meaning not your personal network and not managed by you?

Is it possible that the network administrators have VPN services blocked or disabled?

This is pretty likely if this is your employer's network.

By VPN do you mean a personal VPN to hide your traffic or a company VPN to access resources at another site? The first is most likely blocked. Using OpenVPN over port 443 might be able to defeat naive port blocking, but probably not deep packet inspection. It also won't help if the network is doing TLS termination and inspection with a company-provided cert on each endpoint.

If you're talking about a company VPN, there could be a misconfiguration on your company's part, but it's impossible to know without details.

So I was trying to use ProtonVPN, except I was only using the free version. I did a little more research and it turns out that I need to use an open vpn over port 443 like @556fmjoe suggested. So I’ve had to switch vpn’s and now my vpn is working again.

As a side note, would you guys have any recommendations for a good open vpn that I could use that is still very reasonably priced? I appreciate your help!

That's such a difficult question to answer, actually. It all depends on the reasons why an individual wants/needs a VPN as to which one, if any, to use.

I'd start by spending some time on this website to get a good idea of all the different services out there.

I have a VPN, but it's one I built myself and control from end to end. The only reason I have one is to protect myself while I am mobile (away from my home and work networks) from ads, trackers, and all the bloated garbage websites have on them.

I built it with OpenVPN and Pi-hole on a Linux server I built on digitalocean.
