Here's my situation.. my sister's iphone4 got stolen Friday at a bar, quite a timing considering iphone4s came out the same day. So she went to ATT to get a new phone, and ATT renewed her contract, BUT gave her an iphone4 because they were "Out of stock" on iphone4s. What should she do to swap it with a iphone4s? go to the apple store? ATT store? call iphone customer service? What do you think?

I'd go right back to where she got it. I find it kind of strange that they would just give her an iPhone 4. Unless they planned on her coming back to get a 4S.

Go to the AT&T store where she originally made the purchase. This is easy, it's a wireless swap of phones under AT&T own 30 day return policy...

Personally from experience of working at a mobile dealer, these types of transactions can get pretty difficult if spread over several stores...

OP said they were out of i4S... not much they could do...
