How to tell difference between 1st and 2nd Gen IPad Pro?

I'm getting ready to finally take the plunge and order a IPad Pro 12.9, 512gb. I'm ordering online through military exchange services. I'm retired veteran. My question is what do I look for in the ads to be sure I'm getting the newest IPad. I don't want to order an old model. I'm pretty confident the ones I'm looking at are the 2nd Gen version but want to be sure.

The first gen 12.9 didn't have a 512GB capacity, so if you are ordering the 512GB then it will be the 2nd gen model.

The first gen does NOT have a flash under the camera, the second gen does.

If you are buying the cellular version, the 1st gen had a black strip across the top of the back of the iPad, while the 2nd gen will have a strip that matches the back colour of the iPad (it will be colour matched, not black).

You could also contact their customer service department and perhaps they can advise you of the serial number, which Apple can verify which model you are purchasing. I have used this method before with online ordering.

All 64 GB and 512 GB iPad Pros are 2nd Gen.

All 32 GB and 128 GB iPad Pros are 1st Gen.

If you’re ordering a 256 GB iPad Pro, then you need to know the model number.

There are no 512gb 1st gen models as this capacity was just introduced in the 2nd gen model ..so you can be safe that it is 2nd gen
