I'm currently uploading my photos to iCloud and the upload process is slowing down the general internet use on other machines. Since the upload takes about 3 weeks (24/7) I have to find a solution to limit the upload speed so that the other machines will not be disturbed...

My router says I'm uploading @ about 2,5 Mbit/s. If I could limit it to let's say 1 Mbit/s everything should run fine. How do I do that on the uploading machine? Thank you!

^ what router?
Some routers let you select specific devices/ports for reduced priority (QoS).
If that is not possible, maybe you can create a guest network and limit the upload rate. Connect to that network with the device in question for the time of the uploading process.
But all internet traffic of said device is limited, not only the relevant process.
The process for iCloud/Photos uploads should be the „nsurlsessiond“ but I don‘t know any Mac versions of programs like Netlimiter for Windows.
Maybe Network Link Conditioner works on your OS version.
