I have a large video file on my iPad, about 30gb in size.

My MacBook has nowhere near enough memory to take it but i have a 1tb external drive I store things on.

Question is - what’s the easiest way to get it from the iPad onto this external drive?

You need to clear enough space on your MacBook to receive the file from your iPad, then you can Airdrop it over to the MacBook from the iPad. After it's on the MacBook, dump it to the external drive, then delete it from the MacBook. I do it that way all the time. Works great.

Yeah that's what I've had to do, although my iPad cannot airdrop directly to my MacBook so I have to send it via my iPhone which is annoying as it takes an age to send it each time!
