How to transfer MP4 movies from USB to iPad?

Hi all,

I am traveling and would like to put several movies on my USB flash drive and take it with me so I can watch them on my iPad during the flight. Is there any way to transfer the .mp4 movies from USB to the iPad? Here's my review of a device I use with my 10.5" iPP to watch mp4 movies stored on a 256GB uSD card while traveling on a plane:

You can watch directly from the card or copy files to your iPad (I watch directly unless I want the port for charging).

What you can also do, is use iTunes. Install VLC, then in iTunes, select your iPad in the top bar, select File Sharing in the left navigation, then select the VLC app in the middle. Click the Add... button and throw your files in VLC.
