I had to buy a MBP just to develop iPhone software. I'd love to turn off the logo just so people wouldn't automatically assume I was a snobbish **** ...

:D

Fail troll. If you really would care, it's so easy to put a sticker there, or just use a case.

Of course you also had to buy an iPhone and an iPad, just to test the apps you developed in their native environment... muahaha.

Just in case you're not aware, this search tool has not worked for some time. I used to use it regularly when it worked. It was very useful.

But MRoogle worked on January 12th, 2011, the day the post you quoted was made.

ERIC273 just decided to resurrect this stupid thread with one of the best well thought out comments I have seen in millennia.

Wow, what a fantastic question? Not only do I have no idea but I have never thought about this before. Kudos for thinking this one up. Now let's see if someone has an answer...

Movies and shows constantly cover this with different stickers and such as to not advertise the apple logo. Even if they show the front, they cover the "MacBook Pro" on the bottom of the screen. But everyone knows it's a Mac that they are using.

No sarcasm here. My comments were serious. I am impressed with such a simple and obvious concern that I've never thought about before.

But as you may have read the thread, answers have already been given. Unless you cut a hole in the actual display, the Apple logo can't be turned off, only masked, if necessary.

thats funny, because i bought a sticker to compliment the apple logo just to let everyone know I am better than them. (im kidding):D

i like the light because it kind of takes the strain off your eyes by illuminating the background when you are using you mbp in the dark. its a small amount but it helps. and I did not know that it was using the sreens lighting so thats cool too... I will have to experiment with the brightness later.

You cannot even see it when using your computer ... why turn it off ... but if you insist.

For one, condescension is a great way to identify your true character.

Two, put something over it, like a decal. :apple:

Three, maybe a person who wants it to not glow may be in a tent with a dozen other soldiers on deployment and doesn't want to annoy anyone trying to sleep.

I hope someone can make use of an actual constructive tip. :apple:

So, to summarize this now twice-bumped thread which is over two years old..

The Apple logo is just showing the light from the display's built in backlight. To turn off the Apple logo would be to turn off the display.

It uses no extra power.

Can this thread please rest now? :p

Why should it? It is better than those data recovery threads, that get bumped every once in a while by nice, one time, advertisarial, posters, and then get bumped back into oblivion. At least this topic is relevant and has nothing to do with heat or viruses, though battery life is a valid concern.

I simply but gaffa tape onto the log and now it can't be seen or identified as stupid Facebook machine, though I hardly know my way around computers anyway.

And cookies

Why would you want this? Lol how do you think I make haters hate and the wimmenz want me? Of course I'll keep my beacon to my 1k+ laptop glowing :D:D:D kidding of course but I usually keep my display on low anyways so its always rather dim regardless.:apple:

Haha--(old thread but sill funny) gotta love that--and just think how boring life would be without seeing all of those bright Apples on just about every TV show and movie. :D

I only use my MacBook Pro at Starbucks. Usually when I'm sitting at a shade covered table, with the apple logo on my Mac at full brightness, my iPhone 4 to the left of the Mac, my iPad to the right, all while sipping on a Venti Caramel Macchiato out of my green Starbucks travel mug.

I do this so that people will think that everyone using a MacBook Pro is a snobbish ****. We have a reputation to maintain, people!

Step up and do your part.

P.S. On topic....can't turn off the logo. ;)

Oh, and I only pay for my beverages using the Starbucks Mobile Payment app. This is a must for perpetuating the snobbish **** stereotype.

Don't forget the TOMS and and a beanie!
