How to turn off KEYBOARD backlight on Macbook Pro 14? I tried on System Preferences etc. Sorry was in a rush during original post.

OP,

Assuming you mean keyboard brightness by "backlight";

Select the Control Center icon on the Menu bar:

Then click the Keyboard Brightness button:

Thanks CoastalOR, that did the trick to turn off keyboard brightness. I just switched from macbook 13" 2019 with touchbar.

If you go into Sys Prefs > Dock & Menubar, you can also add Keyboard Brightness as a standalone menu-bar icon.
