I have terrible battery life with iOS15.4 on my iPhone 13 pro Max.
On iOS14 i turned off all mentions of "find my" and battery life improved dramatically.
How do i do this on 15.4?

I have done the obvious turn off "find my" in iCloud settings but where else do I need to turn this off?
Only other option I have, which I don't want to do, is to turn off location services 100%.

Maybe look at Settings->Privacy->Location Services->System Services. Maybe look at trying to figure if one or more of those options is causing your battery drain.

With a 13 Pro Max your battery life should be outstanding. Mine is with almost everything enabled. Find My doesn’t even register in the Battery screen in settings, it just has a short flat line. I would look for something else, an app, or something else you’re using or doing. Onscreen time is the biggest determinant to battery life. What is shown as having the longest onscreen time on your device? For me it is the Kindle app, I read a lot of my books on my phone. I had over 3 hours of onscreen time showing for the last 24 hours. Even so my battery life has been terrific. Kindle was the biggest battery user. In the past some apps like Facebook had a severe battery impact but I think they corrected that, I’ve never used FB so I can’t comment on how that works currently.

In ios15 it is not there. In 14 that is where I turned it off and improved battery life by a mile! Where can I find that in iOS15.4?

Ok I found it if location services are on but only “find my” service there was “find my phone”. In iOS14 there were a few more and if I turn of location services completely it shouldn’t matter what system services are on, or?

Don’t go to system services. Under Location Services Find My is in the list and can be set to Never if you really want to.

I was not saying that Find My is located in System Services. I was saying that maybe one of the System Services is causing your battery drain. Just a thought.

Should I erase the phone start with a fresh system and then add back my backup data to it? Problem is there are always apps that require new passwords…
But maybe it is worth it. I have seen people have close to 10h on screen time and I don’t get half before running out of battery.

Today I had the phone 100% charged 21 hours ago and since then I had 4.5h on screen time and I have lost 58% battery until now. To me that is not great battery time especially if I compare to my wife’s 12 pro max. Or is this normal in iOS15?

Ok, this is weird. Even though I have set “find my” to never I still see 3% battery usage from “find my” background job. How can I completely turn off “find my”?

You’ll have to turn off Find My Phone under iCloud settings. The default is to be able to locate your phone even when in low power mode or even when off. Why you would want to is puzzling but if you truly want your phone’s location undiscoverable you’ll have to turn all that off and maybe even delete the phone from your devices in iCloud.

Reason is, like I wrote earlier that on previous iOS (14) when I turned off "find my" completely and you had several places in system services to do it, battery life went through the roof.
I have turned it of in iCloud as well so cant see why there is still background process running it...Sure it is listed as 3% but if I have turned off the whole function why is there still a background process running.

Let me ask a second question, for those who has had really really great battery life on 13 pro Max, did you do a clean install instead of a regular upgrade? I am contemplating doing that since I am tired of seeing my battery life being so so at best. Even when I turn off Siri and anything else I can think of as well as have 50% brightness or less. People in the forum state they have everything on and still have fantastic battery life!

I’ve only ever done an over the air update for years. No battery issues at all on my 13 Pro Max with almost everything enabled. I’ve seen people worry about that location arrow icon being there but between the weather apps that I always have tracking me as well as the Find functionality my arrow is always on with no battery impact that I’ve ever been aware of.

15.4.1 seems to improve battery life extensively. I have 5.5h of on screen time and 3 hours of off screen time and still have 50% battery left, haven’t been this good since I got the phone! I will never take any more upgrade🤣

My old Air 2 didn’t loose a single percent over night after this upgrade! Really impressive!

Ok, after 15.4.1 battery life is way better.
However... why is there still a 5% background activity by "find my" after I have turned off the function everywhere I know.
Can someone please tell me how to completely shut it off since obviously I am missing something.

Have you raised it with Apple? Turning it off may not necessarily be the fix, for what it’s worth I have it turned on and it does not show any battery use over the past 10 days.
