How to turn OFF Live Activity notifications on Apple Watch???

I like Live Activities and how it handles sports scores BUT why can I not turn OFF the notifications to my Apple Watch? I don't mind them on my iPhone but find them very annoying on my Apple Watch (Series 8) - or at least can't figure out a way to turn them off without turn off Live Activities.
Thanks for any suggestions
